Media Activity Three

I have had alot of problems with video Camera, here is the script i was going to use when i filmed my director type commentary.

'The idea behind our company, Bio Films is that the company will create a wide range of different genre films, hence the word bi, meaning two. It also incorporates the idea of bio as a chemical form such as bio degradable, which refers to unpleasant characteristics that are symbolised in the ‘Silent Followings’.
A production company will create and develop a film, such as ours in order to reach a certain target market. An ideal distributor would be a small company such as Warp films, who wouldn’t be the largest distributor but would be more accompanied with low budget films, such as ours.
The money raised for our film could possibly come from the production company, or other forms of fund raising such as backing from a successful distributor.
Other films that maybe released in a similar fashion to ours could be a low budget film such as Napoleon dynamite, were the advertisement for the film is low key due to a small budget and lack of expertise. '

Magazine Evaluation

For the photoshop development i worked on my own as i had already used photoshop and knew that is very hard to share as everyone has different ideas.

I planned my magazine on paper and gave it a very structured layout which i based on previous playstation magazines which i used to read and always found them easy to read and understand.

i used the camera to capture images and then firewire to upload the pictures on to pc and finally edited on adobe photoshop, to create the magazine.

My magazine kept to the rule of three to keep it looking professional and consitant. i think the three colours are also clear and fresh.

My magazine appeals to most regular reads of the school magazine as it covers the topics that most students are interested in. it also has quite bold layout and not overpowering like more sophisiticated magazines.

Film Evaluation

I worked with Jamie Webster, Emma Dimelow and Becky Baker to create my preliminary task of a short film production. We split the four of up into two small sectors, myself and jamie on acting with a few camera shot ideas, then Emma & Becky controling the cameras movement.

Are main planning was from are storyboard which we created first before we started to film, this took us half a lesson of planning and we kept to the basic guildlines. The short film we created has quite a mysterious feel and i think we were inspired from the jason bourne series of films.

The technology we used was the camera and tripod then the editing from the apple macs, imovie, to crop all clips together and smoothen the transistion.

The factors we looked at were the camera angles such as when i step over the camera. We also looked at lighting in the room we used, we thought it was to bright and decided to shut the blinds and change were the location of the tables were.

We looked at alot of camera effects, such as the 180 degree rule, we had a very good few angles on the finishing handshake which gave our film a good look of professional quality.

The mise en scene on are film was well thought through, we used the camera bag to act that it held some information that was of high importance. We also gave the room a very dark setting as this gives a more secretive feel to the audience, which fits with are formal functions of are genre.

We gave our film a sense of story with two main characters consiting of a henchmen, and a important figure with high hierarchy. This links into the barthez theory of structalism as one event leads to another.

I feel that are film went very well, it was very smoothly put together with good editing. I was very pleased with who i worked with as we all had a serious frame of mind and knew what we had to create. The one thing i would want to improve was the music, as we feel it didnt really need a cheesy track as we feel it would ruin the overall film.

I think this has helped me be inspired for my coursework piece, it gives me a idea of what i can create and in what time frame.
